Brian's career has been spent running healthcare facilities, not designing them from the outside in. Roles have included Chief Operating Officer of Johns Hopkins Medicine International–UAE, EVP at Althea International across Europe, India, and China, Deputy Director and COO at Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, COO at Kuwait Hospital, and Director of Operations at Al Jalila Foundation's Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital.
Across every one of those roles — different countries, health systems, ownership structures — the same pattern kept repeating: the building came first, and the operating model was never really designed at all. It accumulated afterward, informally and department by department, inside whatever the architecture allowed. Intelligent by Design is what came out of watching that pattern repeat once too often.
Brian is currently Special Envoy for AI & Synthetic Workforce Development at the Arab Hospitals Federation, Managing Partner of MAVEN L.L.C. (a boutique healthcare advisory), and founder of VAI, a company building AI-native healthcare facilities in partnership with the Arab Hospitals Federation. He also collaborates with the World Health Organization on AI and healthcare-operations research.
Based in Dubai, he works directly with health authorities, healthcare facility boards, and both new-development and existing-hospital operations teams across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
That work has taken on new urgency. Between the AI Imperative and the escalating reality of healthcare cyber attacks, defining a facility's operating system — before construction, or inside a building that already stands — is no longer a planning preference. It's the only way to run enterprise AI and withstand modern cyber threats.

Intelligent by Design is actively applied on greenfield healthcare facility developments and existing-hospital engagements alike, and informs advisory work with health authorities and industry bodies across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe on AI-native healthcare facility planning and governance.
